The river width ranges from 80’ to 150’ wide depending on the exact topo. The depth and flow varies based on the rainfall and extremely safe for fishing, canoeing and rafting. My wife and kids have canoes, kayaks, rafts and inner tubes and have run the river within the community area, which is about a 4-mile run of the river all the way into the lake. Very enjoyable!
Another unique feature about this area is that all properties are located within this community referred to as MC7 or MC 8 Rainbow springs were auctioned off from Nantahala Power and Light and no one can fish in the river but property owners and a few of their guests as long as the owner accompanies them. This keeps the fishing pressure extremely low and the fishing experience extremely high. We will be happy to provide you more information about this important feature.
Bottom-line, this area is awesome if you are looking for “protected” “remote” and love the out of doors. Many of the property owners are avid trout fishing people, mountain biking, grouse hunting, loads of trails for hikers, walkers, privacy seekers. I don’t believe there is any else like it in the south east which makes it an extremely unique area.
We have several listings on both sides of the river. Cabin, Homes, Lots and lands. Some people love driving through the river and some don’t. To cross the river, there is no road bridge and therefore one can only cross by fording the river in their SUV.
